McGoogan Library Launches New Web Site (contributed by Erin Bauer)

The McGoogan Library of Medicine launched its newly designed Web site March 6th. The new site offers straightforward categories and easy navigation to simplify the search for library information and resources.

Categories of the Web site include What’s New, which offers a monthly update of new books and other recent information; About the Library, which gives information on library hours, departments, services, history, etc; a link to Helix, the library’s Online Catalog; Electronic Resources, which links to the database, ebook, and ejournal intranet pages as well as offering information on residency, help guides, classes, writing and publishing, grants, search engines, etc.; Consumer Health, which links to various consumer health resources including MedlinePlus from the National Library of Medicine and McGoogan’s Consumer Health Information Resource Service; Search this Site, which has an alphabetical listing, a table of contents, and a search engine for the library’s site; Askus, which links to the reference email service; and Suggestions, which is going to become a future “Frequently Asked Questions” page based on Askus questions we receive about the site.

One long awaited feature that became available with the launch of the new Web site are the online Interlibrary Loan and Photocopy forms, which are available directly at http://app1.unmc.edu/libraryill/ or off the Interlibrary Loan Web page at http://www.unmc.edu/library/services/ill.html . These forms allow users to place requests online using an interactive form rather than printing off and mailing in a paper copy.

We encourage you to take some time to explore the site and direct any comments to us at askus@unmc.edu

ICON Directory updated (contributed by Erin Bauer)

The ICON Individual and Institutional Directories have now been updated on the ICON Web page. Note that Institutional Representatives' email addresses are hot linked from their names, and that Individual Members who are also Institutional Representatives are marked as such. Be sure to take a look and let me know if there are any corrections. Also, if you still intend to renew as an individual or institutional member, please contact Mary Helms.
