Greetings (after a pleasant Novi, Michigan!)!! The ARL Workshop entitled “License Review and Negotiation: Building a Team-Based Institutional Approach” was a huge success. I was graciously accompanied by the UNMC Senior Buyer and she was so grateful to be able to attend. Not only was the quality of the program impressive, she said she walked away with a much better understanding of the library’s needs - and the library in general. Her observations about librarians were priceless! The workshop was sponsored by the Michigan Library System, INCOLSA, and OhioNet. I highly recommend this workshop on a regular basis for anyone (including your purchasing people) dealing with any kind of license. ARL also has an advanced workshop on licensing. Classes will start soon so the academic librarians are busy, busy, busy! I’m looking forward to ICON’s fall CE - much hard work and effort has gone into this. An all day event on web design for users will include ADA compliance. Thanks to everyone involved, especially Kate Rose! You’ve done fabulous!
