Creighton University Health Sciences Library/Learning Resource Center Celebration |
The Creighton University Health Sciences Library/Learning Resources Center (HSL/LRC) celebrated its 25th anniversary on Thursday, August 22, 2002. Over 100 people attended the affair, which included a program followed by a reception with door prizes donated from various companies and lots of food!
The HSL/LRC is located in the BioInformation Center, which also houses Media Services West, the Drug Informatics Center, three classrooms in the lower level, and the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions Office of Information Technology West. Twenty-five years ago HSL/LRC became a reality with the merging of library resources from the hospital, School of Medicine and other health science schools.
Jim Bothmer, Director of HSL/LRC and Chuck Lenosky, Director of Media Services served as co-hosts of the program. The Reverend John Schlegel, President of Creighton University and Dr. M. Roy Wilson, Vice President for Health sciences and Dean of the School of Medicine were featured speakers. Other invited speakers included Dr. Robert Heaney, John A. Creighton University Professor and former VP of Health Sciences, Marge Wannarka, University Archivist and former director of the HSL/LRC, and Leon Benschoter, former director of the BioInformation Center.
Dr. Nicholas Lorenzo, Senior Vice President and Chief Publishing Officer of eMedicine gave the keynote speech on the development of eMedicine and the role of the information in the Creighton University Medical Center.
