It's the fourth quarter of 2002, and I'm nearing the end of my term of office. It hardly seems that I became a freshman member three years ago.
Our goals have changed over the years. HealthHQ has been a top priority for several years and has grown to encompass the entire state of Nebraska as well as Pottawattamie County in Iowa. Now we await word on the NLM contract to maintain HealthHQ. Other projects have been completed, such as moving the union list to a web-based document in pdf format. Still other projects are still in progress, as we plan to help our institutional members get Ariel in their libraries. A grant may help this be realized. I'd like to thank those who have helped move these projects along - the HealthHQ Steering Committee, the ICON officers, Teri Hartman, and all those who promote ICON and its activities in their libraries, in the classes they teach, and at gatherings of other medical librarians and professionals. We have such a great group of members that almost all of them have participated in some committee, presented a CE, or spread the word about ICON in one way or another. I thank you for all your efforts. I hope to see you all at our December 13 meeting, which will be followed by a celebration of each others' company as we get into the holiday spirit! Have a great holiday season.--Karen Mier, Senior Executive Board Member
