Committee Reports
a. Bylaws – no report
b. Membership – Mary Helms announced that membership renewals would be available at the December meeting as is the usual pattern.
c. Resource
1. ARIEL: the Ariel project has more not working than working workstations placed at ICON member facilities. By October 1, facilities will receive workstations whether or not their network is ready for them. Good news: Methodist’s IT person saw first hand that Ariel wouldn’t work on their network-configured workstation, proving that the difficulties experienced by Tom Gensichen were due to the network. Working Ariel connections due to the grant: College of St. Mary, both Bryan Memorial Hospital facilities in Lincoln, Regional West, Mary Lanning. January 2005 marks the end of the grant. Final report will include issues involved in ICON’s effort to link all members through Ariel. Sr. Judy Healy offered to train anyone in using Ariel that needed it.
d. Continuing Education: Teri Hartman reported that plans for October events have been tabled. She urged members to let the CE committee know what education events they would like ICON to host that they would attend.
Old Business
a. MCMLA in Omaha 2007: Jim Bothmer and Teri Hartman distributed update on planning for the joint meeting. Meeting theme suggestions have centered around a connection to ‘007’, since the year will be 2007. Kenny Oyer moved to open the Midcontinental-Midwest Joint Meeting checking account with $1000. Angela Arner seconded. Motion carried. Mary Helms will meet with Jim Bothmer and Teri Hartman to decide on when the account would be opened. Mary Helms suggested that ICON host members of the Iowa planning group to see the Hilton first-hand.
New Business
8. No new business
9. RML News: No RML news. Mary Helms reported that the RML toll-free number had been out of operation.
10. Announcements
Karen Mier mentioned the College of DuPage Copyright satellite conference will take place on September 24. Creighton is a host site.
Valerie Conzett announced that as of March 1, 2005, Children’s Hospital will no longer use John Moritz Library. If ICON members have medical staff who also work at Children’s, they may experience an increase in information requests.
