1. Meeting was called to order at 2:05 by Judy Pat

3. December minutes were amended.

Motion: Judy Pat moved to accept, seconded by Angie, Motion approved

 

4. Executive Secretary’s Report – Mary Helms was at North Central Accreditation meeting, a written report was provided

Motion: Shawn Ammons moved to accept report, Seconded by Karen, Motion approved

 

5. Communication Coordinator’s Report –

The website is not up-to-date, but Shawn will work on it after the play he is in is completed.

Features:

·         Content Management Software – add a bulletin board feature to replace the guest book; add way to communicate about the 07 conference – separate bulletin boards

·         Conference Blog could be added

·         Blogger RSS will be added to website

·         Use email addresses username, email out the password.

 

6. Committee Reports

a.      Bylaws – No Report

b.      Membership – Recruit new members for 2007!

c.      Resource

§         Ariel – Karen Mier. A lot of sites are operational, some are partially; There were more problems with this project than anticipated; letters of recommendation didn’t reflect understanding by the institution; half the report is written, the Final Report is in three pieces – Financial page and summary could be put out to the members; Executive Board can look it over, put up a summary. Shawn spoke about the Ariel Patch – Don’t install 4.0 until you have the patch – it comes out this summer. The Ariel listserv has good information about this.

d.      Continuing Education – No Report

 

7. Old Business

  1. Joint Midwest/MCMLA in Omaha.
    The Iowa group received a list of volunteers. The theme will have something to do with “007”. Iowa has not recruited anyone yet, they are meeting in April. Fall meeting 2006 is promotion time. The conference coordinators are still working on memorandums of agreement. The dates are October 12-16, 2007

    1. CSM: Scholastic Book Fair
    2. UNMC: Staff Appreciation Day; MLA: 411 Medical Info Day; Cookie break for students; pizza break; exhibit at The Nebraska Medical Center; posters all over campus; book sale for Fontenelle School
    3. Methodist Cancer Center (Angie): special emails (this snuck up on them!)
    4. Methodist (Karen): trial for Stat Ref; candy; surveys
    5. Hastings: Display in Library, Quiz with prizes
    6. Tom Schmidt: Open house for staff and patients
    7. Creighton HSL: “Library a place to…” poster; Lunch ‘n Learn activities all week; candy for students all week; sessions on trials
    8. Bellevue: catered open house; Friend of Library Award; Trio of Knowledge; amnesty for fines all week; book sale; raffle for students – they are entered any time they make a transaction with the library
    9. SCC – snuck up on; bulletin board
  2. Sharing of Accomplishments omitted from News Corner
    At the last Board meeting, the News Corner was renewed; Judy Pat sent one out just before this ICON meeting
  3. Pub Med Updates (Marty): Marty presented the latest updates in PubMed, with “My NCBI” new features being highlighted
