1. Meeting called to order at 2:15 pm

2. Introduced: Nicole Koborg from Clarkson

3. August minutes approved as amended (fix Sheryl’s name)

4. Executive Secretary’s Report:

• Mary brought the ICON membership renewal forms for individuals and institutions;
• Ten “The Librarian is In” videos were ordered by the NN/LM SEA, and one from a library in Iowa
• ICON received a letter from Habitat for Humanity in thanks for the donation in memory of Sue Raymond’s husband

5. Communication Coordinator’s Report:

• The website was down during Hurricane Katrina; as compensation, ICON will receive one month of free service
• Remember you can post to the ICON listserv yourself

6. Committee Reports

          a) Bylaws: Vote later today

          b) Membership: Remember to bring new people to the meeting

          c) Resource: Karen Mier deferred to Mary Helms and Tom Gensichen, who deferred to Old Business

          d) Continuing Education: The College of DuPage series is still being run; Salt Lake City is presenting the NCBI online sessions, feel free to come to Creighton to attend if you want a group experience; a webpage for Education is being considered; a survey on Survey Monkey will be sent out; Marty Magee will present a PubMed class after the first of the year

7. Old Business:

          a) Joint Midwest/MCMLA in Omaha:

• MCMLA approved ICON as the 2007 planners and advanced $2000 seed money to be repaid, provided $1000 speaker grant that does not have to be repaid
• A joint planning meeting will be held April 28^th in Des Moines from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm; The ICON Executive Committee approved paying for rental vehicle(s) sufficient to carry Omaha 007 committee attendees. Please let Teri or Jim know by email if you plan to join the group.
• 671 days until October 12, 2007; Teri provided “doodads” for committee members

b) Go Local:

• UNMC received verbal acknowledgement of $25,000 grant; the money will be used for data, travel and promotional materials
• All the support groups that are in HealthHQ are now in Go Local.

c) Ariel:

• The last piece of equipment has been installed in Fremont
• ICON received a bill for $1.67 over the budget, even though the grant actually came in under the budget. Mary will pursue this J

8. New Business:

          a) Executive Committee Election of the Freshmen member:

• Jeanne Burke, Darrell Willoughby and Angie Arner were nominated
• Kathy Tooker and Rose Schinker acted as tellers and counted the votes; a simple majority was required to determine the winner
• Jeanne Burke is the new Freshmen member

b) Bylaws Change – Standing committees: Continuing Education/ Honors & Awards: Angie Arner called for a vote, Marie R. seconded it; the bylaw change passed

c) Hurricane Donation:

A discussion was held on contributing to ALA or MLA to assist in rebuilding of libraries damaged by Hurricane Katrina;

Jim Bothmer moved that ICON donate $100 to the Hurricane fund; Sheryl seconded it; Mary H. moved that we amend it to donate to the ALA Hurricane fund; Jim seconded. A call for questions was made; having no questions, the vote was taken and passed

9. RML news: no news to report in light of festivities to come

10. Announcements:

• 2006 ICON meetings: so far the December 2006 meeting will be held at McGoogan; contact Teri with locations for the remaining meetings.
• Kathy Tooker was selling “Book Lovers Calendars” as a fundraiser for the Friends of UNO Library
• Jim Bothmer moved that we all give Sr. Judy Pat a round of applause for her hard work over the last three years; Judy Pat thanked everyone for the time she was able to serve on the board.
• Mary Helms was thanked for the food. Joy Winkler was thanked for Santa goodies.
