A Message from the Senior Executive Board Member

Thank You

Serving three years on the Executive Board has been a really wonderful experience. I could ask questions and find answers. I could be challenged and at the same time mentored. Executive Board Members were always helpful, as were all of you. I could pick up the phone or click the mouse, and be provided with a wealth of insight and good judgment. Of course, phone tag provided us with exercise! I appreciate the opportunity that I’ve had to work with so many of you, which helped me know you better and appreciate you more. I hope, especially in those times when we know we have too much to do, the focus and strong commitment of ICON to provide valuable health-related service to so many in our state and region is a source of energy and a gift that we can treasure.

Accomplishments

2005 has been a rich year of accomplishment for ICON members. Many individuals received honors and awards, and many were and continue to be actively involved with a number of profession-related programs and publications.

Communication for members has been enhanced. The [icon-news] listserv is a reality. Thanks, Shawn. Some additional ARIEL installation has taken place; Shawn and Tom accomplished as much of the impossible as possible! Union list is available through “Library Links” on ICON Library Consortium homepage.

Support to the larger community is on a roll. McGoogan Library of Medicine, with ICON support, obtained approval from NLM for “Go Local” proposal, and an ICON Member will serve on advisory board. ICON is also working with Iowa members of Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association to make 2007 MCMLA Annual Meeting a joint-chapter endeavor.    Among our tasks is serving as Local Arrangements Committee. Check the following for details: http://midwestmla.org/2007conference/committees.html

Holiday Wishes

Hoping to be with all of you December 9 (2 PM) at Creighton for our Winter Meeting and to have time to celebrate together. To each of you, All Good to you, your families and friends as we pause to delight in the Lights of the Season: Christmas and Hanukkah!
