Creighton put a copy in our Learning Resources Center so it can be checked out. The streaming version is now also available for viewing on the MLA web site. To view it, a computer will need “Media Player”. The video is about 11 minutes long
      • (Siobhan) the upcoming 2006 ICON meetings are set for Omaha Public Library's Washington Branch on Sept. 15th and Dec. 8th at UNMC's McGoogan Library. The program, “Core Title Lists in the Post Brandon/Hill World” for Sept. will consist of comments from Dan Doody and a panel that will discuss the value of a core title list for collection development. The business part of the meeting will begin after the panel discussion, around 2 p.m.
      • When Lisa gets a handle on her new position, I will add an ICON Education page.
  7. Old Business:
    1. Joint Midwest/MCMLA in Omaha (James Bothmer):
      • Marie has sent out the officially adopted logo, "License to Lead; License to Learn" that the meeting chairs adopted for the 2007 joint meeting. The slogan will be used as part of the promotional campaign for the meeting. Stuart Dayton from UNMC designed the logo for us
        • The joint planning meeting co-chairs and committee chairs met on April 28th in Des Moines
        • An action grid was sent out and we pretty much are on target. The Program Committee is actually ahead of schedule. They have secured the two keynote speakers. The opening speaker will be Dale Lea, Health Educator for the National Human Genome Research Institute. The closing speaker will be Fred Lee, the author of “If Your Disney Ran Your Hospital: 9 ½ Things You Would Do Differently”
        • There are still on going talks with COSTLA, which is the State Librarians Association Group
that will possibly be meeting on in Omaha at the same time. There may be a possibility of some joint programs with them but Rod Wagner, our State Librarian, is supposed to get back to us about this
      • The action grid was distributed. Everyone should be on the list serve and if you are not, you should get on it. The grid was put out right after the April meeting to highlight some of the major dates and it is broken down by committee. Everyone should take a look at it
        • Discussion between the two chapters about breaking even or making a profit. We will try to generate a reasonable amount of profit
      • Delegations from each chapter will attend conferences this fall to promote the 07 meeting. MidWest will go to Louisville and MidContinental will go to St. Louis
        • Awards will be presented at the opening reception. There will be continuing education, contributed papers, and posters. There will also be one lunch with exhibitors and one lunch with a featured speaker to be held at the Hilton next to the Qwest Center
        • There will probably one more “face to face” meeting this fall in Omaha.
        • You don’t have to be a member of MCMLA or MLA to attend the meeting. MCMLA dues are only $15. a year.
    2. Go Local Nebraska update (Angela Arner):
      • A copy of the recent report on "Go Local" was sent to everyone on the ICON list serve and everyone here should have a paper copy
      • It is scheduled to go live in December of this year
      • Traveling display has been routing around to public libraries
      • Team members traveled in April to all of the communities listed on the “Go Local” map. Over 120 public libraries are represented, as well. The visit provided increased visibility for long for long standing programs like CHIRS and HealthHQ. The visits have also served to increase support from the public librarians which is key to getting the word out and keeping the data current
      • If you go to the web site and click on any community, you will see pictures and comments from local librarians. Locally, Lisa Anderson has been very busy working on this project
      • Please check it out on the MedlinePlus page (www.medlineplus.gov) & let her know if there are other groups that you think can be added.
